This should more properly be titled Mother Nature’s Ship of State. It is a tesserae work over an acrylic painting, and contains a variety of techniques including some parts of the original under-drawing of Mother Nature weeping. However, over time it has grown and morphed into something else entirely

As it developed from a drawing into an acrylic painting and then acquired the tesserae pieces, it took on a new life and this history is reflected in the pentimenti still visible beneath the surface of tesserae pieces. The work is reflective of the uncertain state in which we all live these days, and has an unfinished quality that I find compelling in an odd way.
