Here is the steeple.
Open the door and see all the people.

But that is only the front door.
What about the basement door? Here an ethereal after-life maintenance crew, hard at work, sorts out spirits and souls as they arrive from the old world and send them off into eternity.

This piece is a rescued image. It is part of what I refer to as my Trial-and-Error series … paintings that didn’t quite work in their original state, and have been reworked into something more artistically satisfying. Their surfaces are scarred with the evidence of past lives, and the result creates a pentimento effect. A friend called it evidence of stitching together a new image. Very appropriate for this image.
